In theory it can be done but it is going to be customized. You may review or try to see if you can compare with SAP Work Manager for SAP as reference wherein the Push "response - step" uses a push steplet.
This will be a customization in the Java part to update your Maximo objects and hopefully you can write your own psdi or Maximo MBO code to do the processing.
